PORN(OH!)GRAPHY

Did the title attract you? Sure it did! Its one of the most attractive titles. (Like- LSD, The dirty Picture, American Pie, etc)  Guarantees immediate attention. But, by contrast, when I was researching on subjects to include in the blog, only one person suggested this topic.

‘Eww’, ‘shiee’, ‘I cant believe he is writing about this!’. Yeah, yeah, go ahead. Jump all you like, you cant deny that you want to read about it.

Most people, don’t even know what pornography is! (If you know, stop smirking.) Commonly known as “BP” (Blue Porn), it is the depiction of sex. Not the actual act. So live sex shows and prostitution is not porn. The filming of it is. Pornography may use a variety of media, including books, magazines, postcards, photos, sculpture, drawing, painting, animation, sound recording, film, video, and video games. e term applies to the depiction of the act rather than the act itself, and so does not include live exhibitions like sex shows and striptease.  Pornography is often distinguished from erotica, which consists in the portrayal of sexuality with high-art aspirations, focusing also on feelings and emotions, while pornography involves the depiction of acts in a sensational manner, with the entire focus on the physical act, so as to arouse quick intense reactions
Porn is divided into two main types. Hardcore and softcore. Hardcore explicitly shows “everything”, while softcore remains suggestive.
Depictions of a sexual nature are as old as civilization with depictions such as the venus figurines and rock art existing since prehistoric times.[7] But the concept of pornography as understood today did not exist until the Victorian era.

Now, how about some interesting facts?

  • 47% boys and 29% girls visit porn sites and talk about it in school.
  • One out of five mobiles have adult content.

  • 3% boys and 17% girls have never seen porn.

  • The average age at which a child is introduced to porn is 11.

  • 35% downloads are pornographic in nature.

Still, sex is considered as a taboo subject in our culture. Cant speak openly about it without drawing some furtive glances from people around us. And, don’t be mistaken. I’m not encouraging you to watch porn and discuss what you saw. (Ooh, this position looks good). Its illegal to watch porn in india if you are underage. But you still do. Sometimes. When there’s no one home. Your hand hovers towards the mouse and the URL of your favourite website comes to your mind....
